Restaurant Review: Ratu Sari

We just had dinner tonite at Ratu Sari. It's one of the latest addition to 'Kampung Indo' food strip in Kingsford. I've been curious about the restaurant since it opened a few months ago however never get the cwe hance to go there until tonight.

First impression of the place was modern and comfy. Once we were inside, we waited to be seated but none of the staff approached us. After a few seconds I then remembered that we are in an Indonesian restaurant, so we help ourself to one of the table.

The menu was quite extensive and provide typical Indonesian food as well as the house specialties. The waitress promptly took our order. My first question was whether the Balinese Prawn is very hot only to be responded with "Can you speak english?". I would expect a wait staff of an Indonesian restaurant (or any other specialty restaurant for that matter) to be able to speak Indonesian or at least explain in a polite and friendly manner that you cannot speak indonesian but more than happy to assist with the menu if required.

I didn't realize this, but apparently Y did. When I queried a particular dish and pointed my finger to the menu, she recommended something else and moved my finger using her pen/pencil. Then when I ordered the lalap she asked me whether I've had that before. When I said 'yes' she went on explaining the dish that it is just some uncooked vegetables etc...

This doesn't worry me much but definitely something that can be improved upon. The food was tasty and I can see they're using fresh produce and I give credit towards the clean kitchen.

The total bill comes to $40 for 2 mains, lalap and rice. Not the cheapest compared to other restaurant along this strip but if you're after a quiet place to eat and talk then this one worth considering. In summary it feels like we're in an Indonesian version of In-Chan.
