Formatting my hard drive

Yes, the title says it all. After trying to restore my laptop to no avail, I decided to reformat my hard drive and start with a fresh OS (no, I'm not talking bout Vista). I guess that's a good excuse for my absence from this blog.

I also happen to lost all my emails dated as far as 2001. I'm not gonna go into the details here, but I lost my outlook .pst file. I realized this after formatting the hard drive.

I remember reading an article once where the writer mentioned that to completely erase any traces of a file (or files), you have to do at least 2 full formats and 3 file cycle (write - erase - overwrite). So I think there's still a chance to get my .pst file back.

If you guys know any good file recovery utility, could you kindly let me know about it?
